It’s all the Mobile Phone’s Fault

Preface : This article was published in Guangzhou Morning Post., which was revised by the editor Eudora in Guangzhou Morning Post. Her revision enlightens this article a lot. Thanks her very much!

A tinkling kid Inflatable Snowmen bell rang, breaking the silence in the dormitory. A roomate went to answer the telephone. “Who would be asked for” I wondered, expecting my name to be called. It was disappointing to hear it was another roomate’s name.

It seemed a long long time ago when I was asked to answer a telephone. Since I got a mobile phone, for years all my friends has been calling me through my mobile.

Undoubtedly, mobile phone benifites me a lot. When I have an appointment with someone, the mobile phone makes it easier when and where to meet, avoiding tedious and anxious wait. It’s so convenient for me to keep in touch with my friends and my family members. Whenever and whereever I want to hear their voices, I just call them. The others are also easy to get in touch with me with their mobiles.

But why I often feel lonely and upset because nobody calls me through the fixed phone and why I have little feeling of joy when my mobile phone rings?

I once read an article in which it said: the difference between a mobile phone and a fixed phone is that a mobile correspondence person, while a fixed phone stays in the place. If you call my mobil phone, you get whoever is closed to my desk and whoever answers it.

Secondly, you have an image to roommates that you’re popular or attractive when you are often wanted on the telephone. Everyone has more or less the vanity that he’s welcomed by others. Sometimes, your roomates will have questions on their minds that with whom and what you are chatting happily on the phone. See ? The fixed phone makes you look mysterious.

Sometimes mobile phone just pushes you into trouble. When you are concentrating on your study or when you are at a meeting or in a private important conversation, you want to get focused on your own things, but the “alarm” just makes you really distracted. You have to make a tough choice whether you should answer the telephone or not. What’s worse, if you forget to swith off the mobile during the class, you will lose five points in the final marks every time.

So I often wonder what the high technology brings to us. While we’re on the way to unceasingly persuit of the convenience, there’s always something we lose at the same time.

Now commercial Jumping Castles we can see this: firstly, if my mobile rings, there is no doubt that somebody calls me while only God knows who’s called when a fixed phone rings. There’s guess, waiting and hope since after the telephone rings till someone is called to answer the phone. As you know, guess, waiting and hope sometimes can be a sweet thing that happens to us. What’s more, the name will appear if the caller’s number has been stored in the mobile. Before you answer the mobile, you have a clear idea of who is telephoning you, or even the reasons why you’re called.

Therefore, I often cherish the time when I did not have a mobile phone, those joy and happiness that I spent chatting with my friends through the fixed phone.
